There are few people who think that any kind of skydiving is not adventure sky diving. However, one of the greatest sky diving adventures is accelerated free fall. This takes more training than tandem parachuting, but the adventure sky diving experienced by doing everything for yourself is unlike any other thrill. Any type of parachuting is exhilarating, but accelerated free fall seems to have an excitement all its own. But it is a process, and at Southern Comfort Skydiving we expect you to be completely ready before you go solo.
Accelerated free fall is a type of adventure sky diving that allows you to experience a true free fall for nearly a minute. But instead of doing it attached to someone else’s harness, you have your own harness and parachute. In accelerate free fall you learn the basics of solo jumping, and if you progress through enough jumps, you actually reach a level where you can go completely solo. Additionally, it is possible for you to earn a sky diving license rated by the United States Parachute Association (USPA).
Southern Comfort Skydiving’s adventure sky diving accelerated free fall lessons come in a ground session and five categories, labeled A through E. At each skill level you become more proficient at the jump and at handling your chute as you glide to a landings. Before your first sky dive, you will receive about six hours of ground training. After that, you are ready for your first jump. You will have two specially trained and USPA certified instructors accompany you on your jump and to provide instruction in the air. Additionally, your landing will be directed with the help of ground to air radio.
As you progress to different levels and enjoy adventure sky diving, you will become better at skydiving and learn to enjoy it even more. There are nine jumps total through Category E, and before moving on to the next level the instructors have to be sure you have mastered the previous levels. The training is very intense and definitely hands on. But at the end, you will be ready to see if you can achieve a rated sky diving license.
Safety is very important at Southern Comfort Skydiving, and that is why all of our beginner parachutes are equipped with automatic activation devices. These are devices that automatically deploy your chute so that if something happens, you do not crash to the ground. Indeed, you must use gear that has these automatic devices until your A License is obtained. For all of your sky diving lessons, we will provide all of the equipment, including a professionally packed chute.
