Sky diving instruction is very important when you are beginning to enjoy the pastime of skydiving. Proper instruction is essential so that when the time comes, you know what to do, and can do it. Additionally, sky diving instruction teaches you what to expect on your jump, and can help you learn how to properly navigate the air as you glide to a land following your free fall. At Southern Comfort Skydiving we understand the importance of proper instruction and are committed to providing you with the best instruction available.
The best sky diving instruction comes from a teacher that is certified by the United States Parachute Association (USPA). This organization has been involved with parachuting since the 1930s, when it was called the National Parachute Riggers-Jumpers, Inc. In evolved into the Parachute Club of America, and finally became the USPA in 1967. Since its inception, this association has sought to be a professional organization for sky divers and sky diving groups. Southern Comfort is a member of the USPA and adheres to the guidelines, certifications, licenses, and governance policies. When you have sky diving instruction from someone who is USPA certified, you know you are getting professional direction and you know that you are being properly trained.
Proper sky diving instruction increases your chances of a successful jump. These days most skydiving is done relatively safely, and proper training can only increase the security of your jump. This means that you are provided with the information that lets you know what to expect, so that you are not taken by surprise, and also how to properly use and control your chute and other equipment. Instruction is even important for tandem jumpers who do not even have to worry about opening their chute or controlling it once it is open. Even tandem jumpers need a good idea of how to behave and what to expect before they board the airplane on their way to a free fall experience.
When you have proper sky diving instruction, you are more confident that you will be able to handle your experience. While nervousness and even some anxiety is normal, proper instruction can prevent feelings of panic. Everyone is much safer when there is no panic involved. There is no substitute for confidence in a successful experience, and this can only be gained through good instruction before the jump takes place.
Sky diving instruction has a history in the military since World War I (although it was only used for emergency bail outs of observation balloons — never on planes). During World War II parachutes became part of the combat strategy and part of the emergency bail out in airplanes. After that, military personnel who enjoyed skydiving as part of their training began to seek to do it for recreational purposes. However, the first commercial school, open to the general public, was not established until the 1950s. Southern Comfort Skydiving is proud to take part in this heritage of sky diving instruction, and we enjoy providing others with the opportunity to experience the excitement of sky diving. |
