The United States Parachute Association

It’s always nice to know that there is a certifying organization that can help you properly choose a particular experience. Many organizations exist that you can turn to in order to find out whether or not a particular service is reputable and properly recognized by professionals. In the case of sky diving, this organization is the United States Parachute Association. The United States Parachute Association is headquartered in Virginia, and oversees the membership of thousands of individual skydivers and hundreds of skydiving establishments. Southern Comfort Skydiving is just such a place.

We feature a first-rate sky diving school with instructors that meet the requirements for United States Parachute Association certification guidelines. The USPA appoints safety and training professionals to each of its recognized locations, in order to ensure that the facility remains up to spec when it comes to proper procedures and equipment. There are basic safety requirements that the Association puts out, and that we at Southern Comfort adhere to. This ensures a thrilling experience in the safest environment possible for skydiving.

Not only does the United States Parachute Association put out safety guidelines and offer certification for instructors and rated licenses for individual members, but the organization also provides the “fun stuff.” National competitions are arranged or sanctioned by the USPA as well. The organization chooses those who compete in sky diving on the U.S. Parachute Team during world competitions, and oversees the Team Trust Fund in the U.S. The USPA has hosted many skydiving world championships in the United States.

The United States Parachute Association also puts out the world’s most widely distributed sky diving magazine, Parachutist. As a group member of USPA, Southern Comfort receives copies of this magazine for our skydivers to enjoy. Parachutist is also available to regular individual members of USPA, as well as offered as a subscription. There are plenty of manuals, and other materials related to governance, training, safety, and ratings also available from USPA.

Membership in the United States Parachute Association initially costs $51 (or you can become a lifetime member for $800) with a yearly renewal of a little bit less. Skydiving experience is not required to join. If you do wish to have sky diving experience to accompany your membership in USPA, it is possible to take a variety of lessons at Southern Comfort Skydiving to receive a rated license. This can go a long way in helping you achieve your goals.

Southern Comfort Skydiving is proud to be a group member, and an officially recognized drop zone, of the United States Parachute Association. We are proud to comply with the safety, instruction, and equipment guidelines in order to give you a truly thrilling experience sanctioned by a professional association. Make an appointment today to feel the exhilaration of freefall. We offer two different lesson tracks: one that can have you jumping from the plane in under an hour, and one that provides a series of lessons that lead to a rated license. And both included teaching by United States Parachute Association certified instructors.
